6’9” FM by Lovemachine. Machine-shaped from Ryan Lovelace’s templates in Santa Barbara.

The FM features Lovelace’s modified tri-plane hull design—a flat entry section that transitions into a spiral vee running through the back two-thirds of the board. The defining feature is a curved channel system in the rear section that breaks up the suction created by the spiral vee, preserving the drive and rail-to-rail feel while adding quick release and a livelier ride.

Runs a twinzer fin setup with True Ames fins positioned 2 inches from the rail. The moderately foiled rails go from soft and forgiving in the nose to hard and defined through the tail, which means you can turn from the middle of the board rather than needing your back foot over the fins.

At 6’9” this is the more aggressive size in the FM range—it surfs smaller than it measures and fits into tighter pockets than the longer versions. A daily driver for surfers who want mid-length paddle power with shortboard maneuverability.
