Brass will develop a natural patina over time. It gives you piece an antiqued look but if you prefer the shiny brass color any discoloration that develops can be easily removed using included polishing pad. On rare occasions metals that include copper may leave a residue on the skin (discoloration). This is not a defect of the product, but the metal reacting to the specific body chemistry and environmental factors.
