Nitrate plays a crucial role in the nutrition of micro fauna and corals, supporting vibrant coral colouration and overall health by promoting effective “biological filtration.” Adequate Nitrogen levels are essential for bacteria and microscopic organisms to assimilate Carbon and Phosphorus efficiently.

Modern filtration systems often create low or ultra-low nutrient environments, which can lead to Nitrogen depletion. In such nutrient-deficient aquariums, biological filtration becomes less effective, causing nutrients like phosphate (PO4) to accumulate and potentially become pollutants unless alternative filtration methods are used.

This formulation supports microbial growth and reproduction, enhancing biological filtration by enabling microscopic plankton and bacteria to consume Carbon and Phosphate. These beneficial bacteria can then be removed through mechanical filtration or serve as a natural food source for various aquarium inhabitants such as sponges, corals, clams, and tunicates.

As a natural source of nitrate (NO3), this product allows controlled dosing to achieve optimal nitrate levels in your aquarium. It is particularly recommended when nitrate levels fall below 5 ppm. Accurate nitrate testing with reliable kits is advised before beginning dosing to monitor and maintain ideal concentrations.

Dosing guidance suggests increasing nitrate levels gradually, by 1-2 ppm per day. For every 100 litres of aquarium water, 1 ml of the 10x concentration solution raises nitrate by approximately 1 ppm. After dosing, wait 24 hours before retesting nitrate levels, repeating this process until the desired nitrate concentration is reached.
